On Friday the 21st of October we did a worm experiment. The ingredients we used calcium chloride and a medium plastic cup of water and a little plastic cup for the calcium chloride.We first got pipettes and put it in the little plastic cup of calcium chloride and the we put it in the water and then the calcium clhoride turned into worms.

Araiti narrative writing

There is a kid named John and he is 4 years old with black hair and white skin. He is short but he has one brother who he doesn’t know the name of and he has one parent because his mum died from a heart attack and his dad is in jail for robbery. He now he has foster parents who love and cares about him.

One time he missed his parents badly  he was crying in the middle of the night he wanted to go live with them and wished that they were back so then he changed his mind about living with his foster parents  at the middle of the night so  he climbed out the window and  ran off and lived by himself in the jungle.

He was tired from running because when the foster parents found out they told the police to look for him. His foster parents told the police what he looks like and then when the got the information they needed then they went off for the lookout for John.

John was 4 years old so he didn't know what to do so he passed out in the middle of the jungle. Then He got saved from a bunch of monkeys. As the years went by the monkeys that taught him how to climb away from danger and they also  taught him how to get bananas out of very high trees.

John lived off bananas and fruits. Sometimes he would get sick of bananas so he would climb up the tree and get different fruits like apples, peaches, nectarines and all that. But his favourite food was bananas.

As the years went by the monkeys taught him how to speak monkey language. But they started to get old and die out so he was left on his own. But when the monkeys was almost about to die but he said thank you in monkey language just before they were gonna die.

After a while lumberjacks started to come in and chop all the trees because there was just too much. First there was one then there was 2 and then a whole heap of them came and just started to cut all the wood.

But one time John was climbing a tree so high the lumberjacks came down and chopped it. So there was John scared as a cat chasing a mouse. But when the tree was falling he was scared that he thought he would of died but  when he was falling he passed out instead. But then the next day the lumberjack that had chopped the tree found him lying on the ground so then the lumberjack thought he would tell the police that a boy was just left on the ground. But the when the police found out his name and his identity then they rang his foster parents and said “is this your son”.

The foster parents said “it is not our son it is our foster son”. So then after the foster parents took him to the hospital so he can recover. But then the next morning when he woke up he was shocked to see his foster parents.

“He said thank you for taking me to the hospital”. And then after he got out of hospital they lived happily ever after.

This week I have been learning about algorithms and how to solve them. I had fun and my favourite part is solving them because I think it is the fastest way to do timetables.

Hiwi the Kiwi

Yesterday on the 25th of August 2016 'Hiwi the Kiwi' came to have a talk. They are a husband and wife duo that drives around New Zealand and to different schools and lives in a caravan.There names are Mr and Mrs Minstrel. They have been married together for exactly 40 years. They talked about educating us about fishing and water safety. We sang songs and  dances to it, They also told us stories.

 Mr Minstrel told us every time you go fishing you always have to wear a life jacket. Mr and Mrs Minstrel told us a true story about when these three men who knew how to swim, But they died because they didn't want to use a life jacket but when they tried to get it it was too late. They also talked about Kai moana and how to eat it properly.

They said if you catch snapper make sure that it is the right size because if it is too big then you can't eat it because then it might have a baby in it. But if it is too small then it is a baby so that's why you must eat it at the right size. They said if you catch it at the right size DON'T put it in clean water you have to put it in fresh saltwater because if you put it in fresh water it can go rotten very fast.

TC students go to silicon valley

2 months ago 2 TC student and a teacher came to have a talk. That talk was about the 2 TC students that were going on a trip to the silicon valley.They talked about going to places in America like Facebook, google, xero, twitter,Alcatraz, kiwi landing pad,Stanford university and to the golden gate bridge.

The 2 TC students names were Saia an Gabe and the teacher who took them is Jason. They had lots of fun when they went to America. Gabes favourite funny thing to do was when they played a game and it was called bean boozled. That game was about when you have jelly beans and you taste what flavour and you can get a nice or you could get a yuck one.

Saias favourite place was visiting Stanford university and he liked tasting the food because the portion of the size and Gabes favourite place was Facebook.When they went they visited all kinds of places like Alcatraz,Facebook,twitter,golden gate bridge,Microsoft,khan academy,xero and Instagram.

Immersion assembly

This morning we gathered in the hall to watch a movie about what we are doing this term. Team 1 is doing things about their favourite things, team 2 is learning about the seasons , team 3 is doing grand designs architecture, team 4 is doing comic art and team 5 is doing art about a Waka.

I'm in team 5 Te Aurere, Hokule'a, Hikianalia and Hine Moana have a waka race. It was funny and I was cheering for Hikianalia but Hokule'a won. It liked the way how Hokule'a and Hine Moana had a little fight because that was to see who would win but Hokule'a won. Hokule'a won because the ancestors were guiding them. Mrs Tele'a was Hine Moana , Miss Berry was Te Aurere, Hokule'a was Miss Garden and Hikianalia was Miss Sadler.

 Memorial of Priscilla

This memorial was a young beautiful lady named Priscilla Tui. She done all sorts of things for the school like help when there was no year five netball team. She also saw that kids at Point England had no lunch so she and her friends came up with and idea to start making kids lunches so they wouldn't starve. She also was a kind lady, a loving lady, a nice lady and a helping lady. She was the mother of 5 kids and she had loved them the same as she loved us. She would always text to say that she can't make it to school.

A good brother

What a good brother looks like is being kind to your brother , doing good things, being nice,looking out for people when they need help.Be thoughtful, protect your family and friends,be good to elderly people and show courtesy, don't be disrespectful to the teachers or anyone who's around you. Show your brother how you act so that he can copy what you do. Tell your brother to stop arguing and tell yourself to stop arguing. Sit up straight, clap when people finish their acts or songs.



 What a good brother sounds like is when you  tell brother  to stop when they do bad things or say bad things, Say nice things so that can say it back showing him how to act, being thoughtful ,tell the teacher when something wrong happens. Tell a parent if there is no teachers. A good brother shows you how to be good, he knows when to growl , knows when to speak and not speak, encourages their brothers, tell your brother to do good things.

Learning this for this week

This week we have been learning about writing a narrative. When we write a narrative we use the word t.o.p.s and what that stands for is title, orientation, problem and solving. We get to write our own story but it has to connect with the picture that's on the page. We also have been learning about technology but we call it tech for short. What we do for tech is art, cooking, graphics and hard materials. But you get put into one of those four groups. When you get to year seven and eight you walk down to Tamaki college and that's where you do your tech

Hansel and Gretel

Hansel and Gretel were born in the woods.Their mother abandoned them because of the witches that were evil.The witches tried to look for them so the mother sent them off to a big troll who was their  mother’s assistant.The big green troll took them to a little cabin where they lived for the rest of their life.They didn’t even get to know their mother because their mother died before they could even meet her.

All of a sudden the witches broke into the little cabin and put a spell on the big troll so he couldn’t protect Hansel and Gretel. The witches looked under the bed, they looked in the trolls room and still couldn’t find them.But the witches herd Hansel and Gretel crying so they went into the room and kidnapped them. They were kept in the woods with the witches.

When Hansel and Gretel got to a certain age and broke out of the witches and went to look for them before they could do anything else bad. They looked in town they even looked in the sky but they still couldn’t find them. But the witches found them when they were looking through the woods. But before they even found them they packed guns and they also went training.They went after the witches but the witches were to high in the sky. So then the witches came down to them and the witches casted a spell for them to not move. But the spell only lasted for a bit and when the spell got broken Hansel and Gretel started to attack. Hansel shot one of them down and blasted her in the head. The other two got away but one of them shot Hansel so it was all up to Gretel. Gretel  picked up the magic realistic flying broom and the wand from the witch that Hansel shot down. So Gretel went after them Gretel went into the sky to look for them and then she found one in the woods but that one was hurt from the other witch who shot her down. So there was only one left so she went and she found her in the town trying to destroy it.Gretel read from the witches is spellbook and found a spell to make everything go back to normal. But it was for a price and the price was that if she makes everything go back to normal she has to sacrifice her soul. And so she did she sacrificed her soul to save her brother her mum and her dad.

Paragraph One-Last year in 2015 I gained a lot of knowledge and experience.Last year I went to Rainbows End and Parakai.I was in one of the most top maths group and I was in the second most reading group.I wanted to be at the top of the reading groups but I couldn’t because I was a new student and they already chose the groups.Last year I year I was bad when I wanted to and good most of the time.I was only bad because I was bored or because I

just didn’t like my teacher because she was mean.

Paragraph Two-This year in 2016 I want to be in the top math group by studying  and working hard. I would also want to be in the top reading group also by studying and working hard. This year I would want to go to the year 8 camp.I have already been on a flying fox and can’t wait for  different and bigger one that you get clipped on. It’s gonna be so much fun. and to the Polyfest.This year I will be good and I will listen to what I am told and I will not get into fights. I will not be smart teachers and I will not disobey them.I will try to learn the mihi and say the words properly.I will be a role model to the younger kids and I will tell them right or wrong.

Dear Miss Berry,

How are you feeling about yesterday?

To be honest I really didn’t want to come to school. I didn’t want to come to school  because I was nervous about the new year sevens, our classes and to meet our new teacher. I was really excited to meet my new teacher and my new friends.

Who do you live with at home?What memories do you have of when you were younger?

This letter is for you to know a bit more about me. I grew up in Otahuhu for 1 year and then moved to Australia for 2 years and came back to New Zealand for a new start. I was 5 years old when I came back to  NZ. I was living in Otara for about 2 years and came to G.I and lived here ever since. This one time when I was living in Australia I was playing tag with my brother on a sandy silver chair.  I was going to tag him but I accidently slipped on the sand and landed on the corner of the chair. I went to the hospital to stitch it up and after I came out of the hospital and I had Macca’s.

I use to go to Otara Public School when I was five and the funniest thing when I went there was my friend David.We use to play all around the school and play lots of fun games.There was only just over 15 people in our class and in my class there was only like 5 boys and the rest were girls.

What are your hobbies and talents?Tell me about something you are good at?

My hobbies are playing rugby league and playing touch football.I  like playing Soccer,Cricket,Tball and Tennis. I don’t know much about those sports I only know the proper rules to touch football and Rugby League.

Tell me a place where you have been that you love.What country would you like to go and visit one day.

I would like to visit America to go to New York to see all the actors on Disney XD. I am a big fan of Disney XD I watch it after and before school.My favourite show on that would have to be Lab rats.My favourite charactar in lab rats is Adam beacause he can do lots of stuff like laser eyes, super strength and more.
